I use a metal comb too and cowboy magic. I invested in a good quality metal comb that is extremely smooth with no little burs on it that would break delicate hair. The comb is about 6" long and has tines about 1/8" apart at one end and 1/16" apart at the other. If my kids get a little matt, I hold the matt with one hand and use the comb to "tease" it out with the other. Rub in a tiny dab of Cowboy Magic and in no time flat the matts are gone!
