Zoie too has had ultra smelly eye gunk. It was making her whole face stink. I finally used a tearless shampoo and washed it out REALLY good. While I had her in the bath I used a fine tooth comb and combed the eye boogers OUT!!!Then rinsed her again. I have to do this like twice a week to keep her smelling good.
