Wow, I'm so sorry they put you in such a difficult position. Sounds like a power struggle. I think they know this would cause you a lot of conflict and I think it's important that your boyfriend support you. Maybe you could write a nice letter, after the holidays, begging their forgiveness?? I have two grown sons and the relationship with their wife and girlfriend is so important to me. If I didn't have a Yorky though, I'd probably think you were nuts!
