I've had 4 male yorkies so far, and I've noticed that they paper train easily up to 6 months, then will start marking at that age. Having them neutered at around 6 months solved the problem of marking, but of course they lift their legs to pee outside.
When we take them to an unfamiliar house, they will mark to leave their scent. That's when we use the belly bands. Other than that, no problem.
