One suggestion I have that really helps is to buy a wire stripper and some electrical tape.
Sorry couldn't resist -- I think we have had wires repaired from each puppy. Surprisingly none have ever appeared to shock themselves. Once they even chewed entirely through the wire, but it was a speaker wire for the computer.
Making sure they have plenty of good things to chew on does help. There are also products that you can spray or brush on that will have a bitter flavor and stop them from chewing on them. Bitter Apple, Bitter Lime, Bitter Lime are ones I have seen. Good luck.
