I brought Cali in as a 9 week old puppy a year and half ago and my 9 year old pom who is very dominant and on the agressive side adjusted to her much better than I thought. Cali learned her place and we never had any problem with Maya trying to hurt her, Of course I was always around with then two until I knew they were ok together. Now they lay together and miss each other if one is gone to the vet. Maya will chase her over a cookie but Cali is quicker! lol It's funny because they have their little hierarch'y. Cali, who sleeps with me will not get up until Maya, who prefers to sleep under my bed comes out. If she is awake and Maya hasn't come out yet. Cali looks over the edge of the bed waiting for her. Also, when I throw 2 cookies down, Cali waits until Maya has taken hers before taking hers. The only thing Cali does is when I let them out the back into the fenced off area, Cali has to be the first out the door. I am looking to add another Yorkie soon and I will be going with a female. My experience with males was a major marking problem even though they were the only dog. Males are very sweet but I do not want to go through that marking ever again.
