If I am there from the very beginning of the labor. I feel I know what is going on. I look for the empty brown/ black bubble and if a puppy is not produced after it appears and bursts within the hour, I think you need a vet most certainly. Labors are different, and its benefical to know the warning signs. It comes with experience and its very hard to give advice if you are not there.

I agree my only concern is there is only one pup, so being cautious!
