Its true. The quick will go in further as you gradually cut their nails. Mine is a wriggly boy too when I cut his nails so I either do it when he is really tired and sleeping after a good play with another puppy. Just hold his leg firmly so that he doesn't pull away and hurt himself as you are cutting it. Sometimes I get my husband to hold him after bathing him so his nails are softer and easier to cut and he doesn't fuss as much about it.
