Do I have to get him all the tests? They don't insist and they cost about $150. The neutering itself is around $200.
I guess this kills about a week - I can't take him out shopping, etc. and I don't want to leave him alone until he's back to normal.

Good odea, we didn't leave Chewy alone for the week... after all he is my baby! I got the blood work done to make sure he was fine before they neutered hom. It cost 80.00 and the neuter was 232.00 but that was with teeth taken out and a microchip too.
