iams really isn't the best for him.. but it isn't the worst.... i had layla on it... and then someone compared it to feeding her mcdonalds every day... so i switched... we now feed Blue Buffalo... the brand dones't matter... just look for no bi-products and if you can.. no corn.. a lot of pups are allergic to it... you'll notice dry skin usualyl if they are. as far as dry food goes... i'd start as soon as you can.. helps with teeth and poops (which help with the anal glands) but start first by wetting it a bit.. to get him used to it! good luck
