2 Weeks before I got Desi #2, (before I found this site) I purchased a puppy from what I now know to be a puppy mill over the internet. It was an 8 ounce tiny chihuahua 8 weeks old. She was Desi #1.. the breeder shipped me this dog from Grandville/ Oranville (? or something close to that) in Texas. When my Vet saw this dog, I thought she was going to freak out. She called this breeder every name in the book and wanted her phone number ( I didn't have it on me at the time). She said any breeder that would ship a dog that small is no less than a criminal and she wanted to tell her so. To make a long story short.... I adored this little puppy, she fit in the palm of my hand from nose to tail... But, unfortunately, she became ill 2 days after I got her and it was in and out of the Vet for one month until she died. I was completely destroyed.. it was the first dog that I had owned that was completely mine. I decided that I wanted another puppy right away but not a chihuahua because I didn't want to replace her. Which is how I now have Desi #2. When Desi came I worried over every hiccup, any bump, any scrape, if she whined, if she cried, if she was cold, or too hot...etc.. But, you will learn to relax and just enjoy your puppy. I still think of Desi #1 - and I wonder what she would be like now..But, I also thank her for bringing my little yorkie into my life. You will be fine and your puppy will be fine.. |
