Geeze my boy does that! But I ignore him when he does. I just got him yesterday and ran myself ragged running to him, thinking something was wrong. Turns out whining for him is a habit. He does it with everything: When he's bored, while he's playing, when he wants to cuddle, when he wants to be alone and in his sleep as he wakes up to change positions. Its a habit like whistling for humans. I just kept him in his crate with lots of toys and he stops after a while. If not I make sure he can see my face until he falls asleep.
