Clock Anxiety~Even more reason not to get before 12 weeks...and

in a petstore!!!

Okay, so I was looking online for reasons why and ways to stop Baby from incessantly licking her cage while I am gone!!! When I come home she's all wet and slimey from her spit, and I read somewhere that's because she's anxious. YUCK!!!

Anyway, I found this site: http://www.pethelp.net/doganx.html and they had some interesting info. Being that Baby was a petstore baby (in a cage) and taken away from mommy at God only knows what age...this would explain her anxiety!!!! Here's what the site said:

Loss: If a puppy loses his or her mother before 8 weeks of age (if the puppy also lost her littermates anxiety is even more common), anaclitic depression can occur. This "depression" can cause an extreme fear of being alone that results in refusal to eat or relax when alone as well as generalized anxiety or neediness even when you are with her.

Isolation: Lack of companionship between 8 and 16 weeks of age, such as being caged alone at a pet store or kept in a kennel that does not allow puppies to play together, can contribute to anxiety later in life. Puppies raised in unstimulating environments can be afraid of new things and generally insecure.

So, I just wanted to share that all with you. I leave the TV on when I'm not home and she has dry food and water that she does eat/drink. But if I give her a treat, she won't eat it until I get home! Also, if anyone has any ideas/suggestions, I would be more than happy to hear them.

PS. I also hope this post is interesting enough to get Vee to respond to instead of just reading and waiting around teasing us to 20,000! LOLOL
