Did you know that there is an online site that you can just type in an address and find the phone number for that property? It is the reverse address search at whitepages.com -- so any crook around can see your address and then do a search for your phone number even if they didn't know the name, which is probably on the mailbox as required anyway. It is just too easy these days for people to get our information. And then so easy for them to block their identify as they did with that "PRIVATE NUMBER" trick with the caller ID.
I do think the phone company can still track that number down though. I would still contact the police and ask them to do that.
