I think you were meant to have her too. God saw two in need -- it was no accident.
I also believe someone took Ace. Do you have caller ID? If so, look at that number and track it down -- that phone call was no accident either. Someone set you up and the phone call was a planned diversion. Sounds like a team working the area. If you do not have caller ID, see if the police will trace the number for you, or maybe even the phone company would -- but probably easier for the police.
Do not take any of the blame for this. You should have the right to believe your Ace would have been fine for the few minutes it would take to answer the phone. No one can elude the true criminals. I pray Ace will find his way home too and in the mean time, give that little one you saved some loving.
