I read that they call it relaxed ears or something like that and there are Yorkie's out there like that. Is the yorkie's ears suppose to be docked ??? I never heard of docking the yorkies ears. I was out shopping this weekend and ran into a lady that had a pair of yorkies both had the laid back ears.... Now I am confused even more. I tried to download pictures of my babies on my profile but I am having problems with it. so I cant show you what I'm talking about. Can you possibly clear this up for me???????????
NO, Yorkie ears are not docked. Genetics do play into ears, but the breeder has alot to do with making sure ears stand up. Teething and puppy growth take alot of calcium, so when this is occuring ears may go up and down. I watch many things as puppyies grow......Mother's nutrition, puppies teeth, structure, socialization. I usually shave puppies ears before they even open their eyes. I shave all the hair off on both sides, this takes the weight of the ears. If ears still aren't up, I'll tape with Breath-Rite Strips. If ears have come and then drop, I'll tape them and massage the base of the ears.
