One thing that I have found that helps a lot with having a tiny dog is using a cat collar with a bell. I use one on Summer and it helps so much from stepping on her and also it helps me know where she is. When she goes outside I sometimes can't find her but I hear her bell and go to where she is. She is so little and slow.
