I have a 9-pounder and a 4-pounder who have learned to deal with Alaska winters quite well. I dress them in booties and coats and keep them moving during our walks. I would think that a Florida Yorkie could learn to adapt, especially if you get them used to it gradually.
It's interesting how they adapt. We just got back from a vacation in California, where the temps were in the 70s and 80s. My guys loved it, and now that we're back in Alaska they're balking at walks in the snow again. I'm just going to back off on the length of our walks, and I'm confident they'll forget all about the California heat in no time.
