I read this for the first time a while ago. It really hit me HARD. As did reading it the second time.
I don't now...and never have...blamed the people who have to kill the animals. It's not their fault. They need a job just like the rest of us.
I am SO mad though, that there are people allowing this to happen. God bless that man, because I couldn't imagine what he has to go through. It sounds to me like he cares about animals more than a lot of people do - to try to make their last few hours meaningful.
Everyone wants "that cute little puppy" shame on them for thinking that they can throw it out after it grows out of the "cute little puppy" stage.
My first dog (the first dog that actually BELONGED to me), Rusty, was from a pound. "The stray mutt" I guess you could say he was. HE is the reason I'd give up just about anything to save the animals. He's such a sweet animal. People don't realize that just because an animal is in the pound doesn't mean they're bad.
The people who don't need to read this will. and sadly, the people who do need to read this either won't or will just shrug it off.
Sorry to go off on a rant like that...but I just wish people would wake up and realize that this kind of thing can be STOPPED if enough people want it to be. |
