If he's that big at that age and his parents are those sizes I'd say he's probably going to be his mama's size or a little bigger. I don't know how often or rare it is for a puppy to be bigger than it's biggest parent. I do know that it's better to look at the grandparents sizes to predict the size of their grandbabies.
I have a litter right now that have a 3.12# father, 6.12# mother, 2.12 grandfather, 5# grandfather, 3# grandmother and and 8# grandmother. None of these babies look like the are going to reach 5# and maybe not 4.8#. But the last litter by the same parents threw a 3# female and a 6#male. The female has tiny bones so I don't think she's gonna get bigger but the brother may grow another pound or may just go to his mother's weight. The other 2 brothers should be about 4.8#. Sylvia |
