it all depends on the span of the heat...many will breed each heat if the cycles are 12 months apart and depending on how well they recoop.

My vet commends to breed every heat because of hormones and hormone imbalance then retire early (after 4 litters) providing the bounce back quickly without complication and their heats are about 10 months apart. If any heat every 6 months he recommends every other heat.

there is a lot of mixed opinions on this...
