The vet gave us a sample of Sentinel for Ben and I thought what a great idea -- no more Frontline. I even mentioned to the girl who gave me the folder with the pill, that I thought it was a great idea not to have to give both.
BUT..... twice now, only Ben has come in from his backyard grazing with a tick!!! The first we saw right away but the second was attached and made a lump on his skin even though we got the head out. I just got done reading about Sentinel and it does not say it prevents ticks -- just fleas. None of my dogs have ever had fleas or ticks til now. I think I will just put him on Heartguard and Frontline like our older dogs. Sadie too when she gets her next vaccines.
I am going to mention this at the vet -- they need to make sure to tell people that Sentinel is NOT a protection against ticks.
