Legally, there is no limit here in AL. A friend and breeder here had a mother who dired up and the pups were weaned by 5 weeks and eating reg food by 6. Would it have been OK for them to leave at 6 weeks old and well under 1 lb? I wouldn't think so.
I think that maybe it depends on what's best for the puppy in each situation. I think if I'm not mistaken that many suggest them remaining with their littermates to better their skills in interaction with other dogs, in short. I guess maybe in your situation it wouldn't have mattered...you only had one survive from the litter, right? Can't very well interact with himself I suppose.
As far as what's admin's "Place"--it's there place to do whatever they want...they run the site, not us. From what I gather, they made the change to the rules after MANY requests from members and in an attempt to keep the heated debates to a minimum....can't blame them for trying to stop that.
