It's just sprinkled/mixed in with their food. You don't have to change what food they eat
Gotta start slow though, and gradually increase the amount, otherwise they can get terrible gas and pain from it from the high fiber (flaxseed) It's super good for them, and it's something that should be part of their diet forever, unless it's not doing them any good, I guess
