There are coat supplements that you can buy, most are made up of the omega fatty acids.
There are dogs that have a slower growing coat, I only know this because I once called on a puppy and that is why she was selling him. I guess they want them to grow a little faster to compete in the shows.But I dont know if an inch in 2 months is normal or slow to be honest.
In any case I can only tell you that there are plenty of coat supplements out there. If his hair is dry you may want to try the Salmon oil, it worked well for my shepherd. But there are LOTS of them out there. good luck
