Any pet I have bought I have bought this way. Just in case I run into any health issues and ran into a problem with the breeder honoring their health guarantees. It was a definite good move five years ago when I bough my Shih Tzu Hobbs. Since that I always do it this way.
I did pay the CC company the cash in full when I got the bill though.
