The contract doesn't actually state it, which sorta shocks me, but I have e-mails from her that statesshe provides papers when she receives written proof and that she hasn't forgotten about his papers. I think the e-mails might stand up in small claims court, but I wouldn't know what to even ask for and I certainly wouldn't consider giving him back.

The reason I want his papers is because part of my decision to buy from her was based on the idea that the puppy was registered. He was my first puppy and I felt like getting a registered puppy would increase the odds that 1) he turned out to have the characteristics of a yorkie since that's the type of dog that I thought would be happy living with me and 2) that he was bred by someone that probably cared about the breed and wanted to produce healthy puppies with the appropriate temperment.

Basically I think it's only fair that since she used it as a selling point, she should have to provide the papers. That's about it.
