Dolce was spayed at 5 months, and she never slowed down or gained weight. I'm not saying it can't happen, but it didn't happen to her. If she ever did gain weight, I'd give her more exercise and/or cut down her food. Weight gain can be managed.
I have to agree that it's not a good idea to leave a pet intact. Un-neutered males are more likely to roam, and what if they get out and mate, creating unwanted puppies that may not have a chance at a good life? Or you never find them again? I think the reasons for neutering outweigh the reasons not to. |
