Yeah - getting the elastic in took quite a bit of doing. I had to hold her between my knees and work fast. It took about 4 tries with a little rest in between so she wouldn't run away.
Actually, I started a couple of days earlier just playing with the hair on her head so she's get used to it and combing it with my fingers. It really did help.
Now that the elastic is in, I can pretie a bow and slip it on the elastic and tighten it. The other thing I do is put a little barrett on the elastic and it stays in for a long time - like a whole hour!
