That's a long time to leave him in there. At night we put Ferdinand in his crate, but during the day we put a baby-gate at the entrance of the laundry room with some puppy pee pads so that he can play, eat, drink, and go potty on the pads if he needs to. You can get a baby-gate at Target for like $15.
