I took Stomper to San Diego with me a few weeks ago- 8 hour drive from where I live and he did great in the car!

Once we returned, he started itching like crazy. He was around my Aunt's yorkie the entire time. She mentioned that he did get fleas from time to time (she said he did not have them while we were there) However, Stomper does not appear to have fleas. I've looked all over him and can't find one. Plus, I would think we would find them on ourselves. My questions are the following:

1) How do you know if a dog has fleas? Would we see them???
2) Why would he be scratching so much?
3) How can you tell if they have dry skin?
4) He doesn't seem to be in pain. Should I take him to the vet if this continues?
