Have you tried a temporary rinse? They last about 28 shampoos and gradually lighten up so the gray gets lighter but no roots. Actually, the gray hair takes color and looks like highlights. I've been using one for several months now, they only have to stay on your hair for 10 minutes, there's no bad smell, no staining on your skin and they leave your hair soft and shiny. My hairdresser actually asked me what I was using and said she likes what it does for my hair. Remember, as you age you should gradually lighten your hair so the gray doesn't stand out so much. I don't mean go from black to blonde overnight but going from a medium brown to a sandy blonde or golden blonde isn't that drastic of a change and it takes a few years off your age too!
