Your little girl is spoiled. This always sounds so awful -- but at the same time, it is so easy to spoil these cute little dogs.
I have deliberately encouraged my dogs to be independent and not clingy - from the first day I got them. And, they aren't.
BUT - (there is always a "but" isn't there?) My Murphy (14 months old is quickly developing a new habit. He is not a barker. Days go by and he never barks. But recently, he has started barking at me (or whinning) when he wants me to play with him. This is a new thing!!!! He will sit on my bed (which I can see from the dining room) or in a big chair across the room from me - with a rag or toy in his mouth and make whatever noise he can with a full mouth enticing me to come and play with him.
How can you not play with a little dog that wants to play? But - sometimes, I'm busy and can't. And, fortunately, after a few minutes he gives up and goes on to do something else.....(thank God!) However, other times, I do get right up and go and play my heart out with him.
****** Hate to say this - but I don't think you should give in to your little girl everytime she acts this way - you know this will only make it worse.
And - there is also the chance that after you have all been in your new home longer - she'll do less of this. Let's hope this happens.
