Loki knows how to touch a target, so that helped. Target training is easy to teach. He was kind of afraid of the bells for the first day so I just took his paw and swatted them and then said OUTSIDE! and shoved a treat in his mouth. Then we went outside. Every time he went to the door I asked him to ring his bell and as soon as he did I opened the door (they are hanging on a suction cup on the window next to the door) Anyway, after a few days he started ringing them on his own and I would make sure to praise him and come running to let him out. We did that for a while and now I can just acknowledge him and he will wait at the door for a few minutes until I get to him.
