Actually - I don't take my dogs with me when I go shopping - because I know I'll be going in and out of a lot of places where they probably aren't allowed.

I do the same thing Carol. I have no problem with leaving mine at home except when traveling to Tx to see my Mom. And I have a pet carrier for that now, after getting kicked out of a gas station while I paid for gas (he was in my arms, cause it was 98 degrees outside, and NOT leaving him in the car, period).

The only time I've had trouble with anyone is on those trips to Tx actually. I was also told he couldn't go into the rest room with me at a rest stop. I stopped down the interstate, and found a place where I could pee! My Tx trips are a 10 hour drive!

I've learned though on those trips, to just leave my cash in the bank, and pay at the pumps now.

But I'm not going to push rules of anywhere. If it says no pets, and I have mine with me, we just don't go. And I have no problem with leaving them at home when I go places they aren't allowed.
