I always pick up my dogs poop. I think it is impolite to leave it not to mention nasty for someone to step in it.

I go to a lot of show and most of the people will pick up their dog's poop(There is always a couple of bad apples). But could you image if nobody did. The ground would be a mine field of poops in hours. Very nasty thought.
