I thought the first time I used it, Ben's hair on the top of his head looked oily/stringy. I was advised to use a little less and since then it just looks great. He does not really have mats but it still makes comb out easier and the shine is nice.
I use the shampoo too and it is really concentrated. This bottle will probably last me a couple of years! It is nice but it doesn't leave much smell. I like them to smell good so I might try another shampoo if I ever use this one up.
