Default Allergies

I posted this in another thread, but will post here also. I recently received a reply from Dr Jane Bicks, DVM to a question about a Yorkie and allergies.

Dr Jane's Reply was as follows:

1. Most dogs with one type of allergy ( food) have the other (inhalant).

2. All dogs with suspected food allergies should be put on Skin and Coat = 1/1 ratio of fish oil and other oils + support nutrients. Decreases any inhalant allergy symptom some times 90%. It takes 2-3 weeks. That way, once you are ready to try different foods you have any inhalant allergy symptoms under control.

3. Nutro is NOT an allergy food. Nor is ours. An allergy food is one protein only and is bought through the vet only; lamb and rice, etc.. Nothing else can be eaten, no treats.

4. Once she is ok, we can try our pork hide bones or porky puffs. I am sure they would be ok. Then we can try a wholesome heart, one never knows what she is allergic to.
