1) Car travel
I've been using her bag carrier strapped with a seat belt to the fron passenger seat when I traveled in my car on short distances. However, it is neither is the most comfortable for me because she constantly sneaks out of the opening to join me in the driver's seat, nor is it safe for her. Most of the car seats or boosters I saw on the market are too big for her. She is 1.38 lbs. I also believe that most of the car harnesses are big for her too. In clothes sizes she is 4-6'.
I recently ordered a "Pet Stow-Away" car seat for her that can function as a car seat, a suitcase and a travel bag. While it is a really good product, I just received it in the mail and am afraid that it might be too big for her as well.
What do you, guys, use to transport your kids?
2) Grooming
Being a ridiculously crazy mom, I ordered Chris Christensen Fusion Pin Brush for her coat that cost me $ 57 with s&h. Between us, I would never in a million years buy myself such an expensive brush, but, and I am sure you can relate to that, our kids are special. At the same time, this brush really DOES work. It is much better than all of the competing products.
I also ordered her Cowboy Magic detangler. For a comb, I used to use the kind (don't know the brand) that my breeder provided me. It is a combination of coarse and fine or medium. I brush her every day religiously, but still have mats on her back legs and the tail. Those are really painful spots for her. So, I decided to go ahead and buy her a better comb, hoping that it will be less painful for her. The comb is the Original Greyhound one in coarse and medium. So, my question is whether anybody else found this product to work better? What size do they use (fine, medium or coarse)? Or, alternatively, what are the best product(s) that you discovered in fighting the mat problem?
3) Pooping (pardon my French):
My puppy is fifteen weeks now. She came to me paper trained to go on reusable pads. At the same time, while housetraining her, I encountered that she would go pee on the pad religiously, but can poop at different places, including the pad. How do you stop this behavior and train her to do it differently, i.e., on the same pad? Sometimes it seems to me that she knows it better than I do that it is not good but is too spoiled to hold it. So, she ends up pooping where it is the most convenient for her and not for me.
4) House proofing:
When my baby just arrived to live with me, I gave her a floor to ran around ( a have a four story town house). She had her bed, her toys, food and water there. The floor she was given is huge. It contains a dining area, a living room and a kitchen. So, she is not constrained by any means. So, initially, she was fine with this arrangement and have not even attempted to use the stairs. My boyfriend and I also figured that since each stair is almost her height, she would not be able to jump so high even if she wanted. Ha-ha, as she progressed in her development, which didn't take long at all, she started jumping the stairs, initially just one, but then the whole flight. It really amused me but not my boyfriend who got determined to stop this invasion into our privacy, LOL. So, he got a gate, but the baby has discovered how to get throw the holes. He put lots of s**t in front, but she got through it again. Finally, he put staff in front and behind the gate so that she would not be able to get through. It was amost a barricade. However, today in the morning, I discovered her hiding behind my bed. I don't know when she got in. She was so quiet not to wake up my boyfriend. Since he is the disciplinarian one, she immediately ran towards me without any fear. My boyfriend was shocked. His primary fear is that he can either step on her and not see her at night or that she gets inside one of the second floor rooms and would not be able to get out since she can ran upstairs, but is afraid to go down. So, my question is what do you, guys, do when you want to prevent them from running around the house?
Thank you. |
