I have been boarding mine since they were 5 months old. I think it helped socialize them to be honest since their boarder lets them play with the other dogs. Since the move I've been forced to find a new boarder in Ohio. My recommendation is to look up places near you and call them with any questions you might have:
- How often they take them outside
- If they walk them or give them play time indoors
- If you can bring along some of their own blankets and toys
- If they will stick with your feeding schedule
- How they handle emergencies (through your vet or another)
- What kind of shot requirements and spay/neauter requirements they have.
If you feel comfortable with their answers ask if you can stop by to see their facitilty. Make sure it is clean and that they clean the pens after every dog stays there.
Also, make sure your little one has a boardatella (sp?) shot to avoid kennel cough. I'm sure you'll find a good one in your area, but it'll take a day or two to screen them.
