Puppy cut is a generic term meaning short like a puppy, it could mean shaved or up to three inches long. So try and not ever use names. Take some notes in on what you want . Talk only to the groomer that is going to groom your dog. If you do not get to talk to the groomer, don't leave your dog there. Make sure she knows exactly what you want before you leave. To keep a puppy cut longer than one inch the groomer needs to know how to hand scissor, and not all groomers can do this. About the hair out of the eyes , just tell her how you want it and she should be able to do it for you.

Most of the time the hardest part about grooming is deciphering what the person wants from what she is telling you. The clearer you can be with your directions the better your chances are for getting what you want. Do not tell someone how many inches you want left show them how much you want cut off. I have had people come in and say to me leave a inch and their fingers are showing me three. So I keep talking until we both are on the same page. I believe most people know what they want just not how to explain it to a groomer.

I think the most exciting part about grooming is when the new client comes back and she says "that is just the way I wanted it!!!"

I wish you lots of luck, there are many bad groomers out there and some should not even be grooming, but on the other hand there are some very good ones.

I would stay and watch if at all possible, if you do stay keep your mouth quiet, do not walk around, do not go in and out of the shop, as your dog will keep looking for you. Nothing is harder than to have a client talking to their dog while you are trying to trim it. In my years of grooming I have told many to sit down and be quiet for the safety of their dogs.

Can't wait to see pictures, take them before and then after.
