Sorry it took so long to reply. My Sophie was 6mths when I started with the bell. She was already sitting by the door to go out. You could hang a bell on ribbon or anything. Just hang it low enough so they can nudge it with there nose or paw. You can even take their nose or paw and show them how to ring it and then take them outside. Always make a big deal. I still make a fuss over Sophie and she has been doing it for a while. Just be patient she will get the hang of it. Oh and yes I just hung it on the door knob. Good luck!
