Bruce-
I don't think it's the individual dogs here that are being judged as you seem to think.
Rather, it's that there are breeders out there breeding "Yorkies" intentionally larger, or w/ disregard that they're doing so and then a never ending cycle happens of people getting a hold of these dogs that have that lovely Yorkie temperment, but carry very little beyond that in regards to the standard. That's all.
Trust me, I AM NOT picking on your large pup, or anyone else out there that has one. If they're available for sale and they fit your needs, purchase the little booger! It's just that I'd like to see those litters never produced intentionally, that's all. The odd size is going to happen from time to time. It's the nature of the beast, but to seek it out on purpose is what I have an issue w/. They aren't "well bred" Yorkies at that point, if your opinion of a "well bred" Yorkie is that which comes from a breeder that dilligently tried to adhere to the standard of today's purebred Yorkshire Terrier.
