You could tell the groomer you want a "puppy cut"... though you need to be careful with that, a puppy cut means different things to different groomers.
Just tell them how you want it cut. Two inches shorter on the body? Shaved short? Trim around the eyes? Your best bet would probably be to find a photo of a clip you like, print it out and bring it along to show the groomer.
You probably can't expect him to come home looking perfect on a first groom, and depending on how he behaves they might not be able to get a whole lot done. Just try not to be upset if he doesn't come out looking EXACTLY how you wanted him to.
