Back in May I e-mailed the AKC asking this exact question, the response was:

"Good morning.

Unfortunately, your dog would not be eligible for AKC registration. In
order to register a dog with the AKC both the Sire and Dam must be AKC
registered. We do not accept this registry.

Thank you.

If a reply is necessary, please include all previous correspondence.
