Perhaps the "way" you brush, perhaps the "type" of brush???? I don't have the answer, just possibilities as to why split ends. I always brush wet! I spray a little of "cowboy magic" mixed with water on both the yorkie and malt and if there are any mats, I apply some directly to the mat and let it set for a few minutes and then carefully separate the hair. I hope someone else can give you some suggestions or answers.
