I agree that 10 or 12 weeks is best....

I got mine at 8 weeks - but it worked out very well for several reasons.

1) He was a large pup (not a tiny little thing)
2) He was eating on his own like a little horse -
3) He came to a home with another dog - and had a new best friend
almost immediately...and another dog at that! And, he has
slept all night every night since I got him (he's 15 months old now.)

I have had absolutely no problems with my pup....and today, he is the most laid back, nonbarking, sweet, affectionate, playful little guy you'd ever want. He loves every person and every animal he ever meets. He has never acted agressive in anyway - I can honestly say that I have never heard him growl ---I wonder if he knows how.....

His best friend, my other dog, has the same personality. So, they get along very well.

HOWEVER - In spite of my good luck, I still think these little dogs should stay with their mothers as long as possible.
