AKC requires that a male stud dog be at least 7 months of age. You need to get a stud contract written up. This is very important. It protects you from getting in trouble. You need to state up front what your fee is...whether it be money or pick of litter and your contract should state this. The contract does not guarantee that the bitch will be bred and that the bitch is brought to your house with a written letter from the vet that she is free from any and all STDs. Yes, dogs can get those too and they are passed from dog to dog. Once your stud gets a STD, you should NOT breed him anymore!
