Our Cinder is a 90 lb. Lab/Doberman mix and is the sweetest girl in the world (unless you happen to be the UPS man!). She has had an invisible fence for years now and is very accustomed to it. It keeps her out of the street and she is quite content with it. She is so smart, however, that if she really wants out, she will sit in the beep zone (where it beeps but doesn't shock) until the battery wears down! Then she will go visiting the neighbors! She has only done this a few times in the 9 years we've had her, though. The reason we first got it for her was that we lived on a busy highway and there was no way to fence in the yard. It was much more humane than letting her get run over. In no way would I ever use one on a little Yorkie, though! They are much too small for that and need outside supervision anyway since other dogs can come into the yard. I also let the collar shock me several times before I ever put it on her. It was uncomfortable but not terrible. It would be awful for a tiny though!

When we moved to Illinois, she was used to the invisible fence so we got another one that is wireless. It is much better than the old ones with the buried wire.
