ok, I have had a horrible experiance with the invisable fences. Back in 93 my neighbor had a german shepard named Mega and the only thing keeping her in was the invisable fence. (I think they were somewhat new at the time but as far as I know the technology hasnt changed much.) Anyway she was a great family dog and even liked all of us, we would go over there often while they were home and BBQ ad such. One day I was walking up MY OWN driveway, I was 8 months pregnant, and all of a sudden I heard barking and growling. I figured I was ok but thought it was odd Mega was acting that way, however with the fence active she certainly wouldnt leave the yard. How wrong I was, she bolted towards me and attacked me in the frontyard of my own home. Luckily at the time my dad lived and worked at home in our daylight basement. He quickly saw what was happening, got a bat and litterally had to swing several times to stop her from biting me. I was crumpled on the ground covering my belly from her. Now remember this was aloving family pet, and I was in my own yard when this happened. Turns out she had been puting her head near the fence line a lot, shocking herself on purpose. Maybe looking for a weak zone but when it was later tested they found none. Later this same dog attaked 4 other people, I was only the first. One was not so lucky, he literally lost a hand in the attack and he was further down the drive than I was. They say it drove her nuts and that it was common for dogs to have happen. Mega was put to sleep 4 months after her attack on me, and in the end even went after her own families children. I am still to this day terrified of big dogs (except my own)and I will never use one of those fences for the fear it could happen again. They pulled the fence, and their next dog never had a problem, to bad they learned to late for Mega.

I would say stay away from they not only is it cruel to them, but it can cause harm to others as well.
